Dear Fisler Family,
It’s my honor and privilege to welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year! My name is Mark Douglas and I will be serving as your interim principal. I’m a retired administrator from the Fullerton School District where I served as Assistant Superintendent of Personnel Services for 13 years. As we begin the new year, the Fisler Staff and I look forward in partnering with you to enrich your child’s learning experience through rigorous academic programs and innovative learning. Robert C. Fisler School continues to shine as one of the top performing schools in the state. In addition to holding titles such as National Blue Ribbon School, California Distinguished School, Apple Distinguished School, and Gold Ribbon School, we are also a Kindness Certified School and a Common Sense Digital Media Certified School.
Fisler School continues to lead in innovative technology integration. Grades K-2nd will build foundational skills in coding through curricular integration. Specific coding instruction will begin in Grades 3-8, focusing on progressive programming skills throughout the grades, from block coding to language base coding. From artificial intelligence to cyber-security, each grade level from 3-8 will focus on applying their coding skills to relevant career pathways. Students will showcase their coding at events such as the Congressional App Challenge, Innovation Experience, and Robot Nation. With Fisler School being an official AP College Board Designated Site, we will continue to offer middle school students the opportunity to take an AP Computer Science Exam in the spring.
Please take a few minutes to read through the Fisler’s School Parent Guide on our website at http://fisler.fullertonsd.org under the Parents tab and click on Parent Handbooks. A calendar of school events can be found on http://bit.ly/2KigBMu, as well as under the Parents tab.
Traffic can be very congested around 15 minutes before the beginning of school and after school. Please make sure to visit our school website for information about parking and traffic around the school. There is a crossing guard that will assist students and parents on Starbuck and Hetebrink. We appreciate your cooperation in driving slowing and carefully around school, as well as following traffic rules and guidelines.
The latest happenings can be found on Fisler’s social media sites. Follow us (fisler_school) on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Additionally, an electronic newsletter will be sent via email bimonth called Navigators Now. Thank you for your continual support in your child’s education! For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via phone at 714-447-2890 or email at email@example.com
